Vancouver Sights, Sounds and Hotels
Vancouver’s flourishing downtown Chinatown, is a designated heritage area and home to approximately 36 000 people of Chinese descent. English is rarely spoken here, and the area is predominantly a real Chinese market and business district and the majority of the signs are written in Chinese. The single full-blown Chinese garden established outside China is the Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden where you can enjoy a tranquil break from Chinatown’s crowded sidewalks and shops, and if you take a guided tour, which included in the entrance fee, you will be shown the frequent examples of the Taoist principles of yin and yang incorporated into the garden. Keep a look out for the Sam Kee Building, an architectural peculiarity and the Narrowest Office Building in the world, listed in the Guiness Book of Records.
Vancouver's Chinatown has something for the whole family and makes for a fabulous outing during any visit to Vancouver. The superior Vancouver hotels will ensure your comfort and your peace of mind whilst enjoying the many highlights of the city.
